  • Flora

Created with the Steps Initiative and the Port Credit BIA as part of the Main Street Art Challenge. For these designs, I wanted to depict various scenes of nature connected to the local ecology, both past and present. I am currently interested in the composition of patterns and wanted to take motifs from my work and create bight and colourful patterns with them.

  • Birds of Paradise

For Street Art Toronto’s Outside the box program. This is a colourful design with birds among flowers and leafy plants. Birds are some of my favorite animals. It is always a special thing to see birds in the city and living near the Don valley, I see so many varieties of them. Sometimes birds escape their cages and you will see a rare bird outside that is not found here. This box is like a rare sighting of a few beautiful and unique tropical birds sitting together.

  • Empowered Energy

My digital artwork piece entitled “Empowered Energy” was created specifically for the Exclusively Inclusive Art Project, commissioned and organized by ArtsMilton.

“Empowered Energy” is meant to convey the power of authenticity; an awareness of self.

*Digital artwork was reproduced as a vinyl wrap for this particular traffic signal box.

  • Urban Harmony

Urban Harmony is the sister mural of Natural Harmony at the Aurora Charter School in Edmonton, Alberta. Teachers, parents, and myself, as the mural artist wanted to strike the imagination of students using technology, architecture, fantasy, and nature inspired by the southern hemisphere, where the sky has Aurora Australis, not Aurora Borealis (the school’s name sake).

  • Under the Crofton Sea

This whimsical little ocean themed painting for the Osborne Bay Pub was the first mural in Crofton, BC. The mural is composed of a wave washing over an underwater ocean scene where a giant Pacific octopus is playing a red piano, as musical notes curve out of piano into the sky.

  • Along the River During the Qingming Festival

This is a contemporary mural interpretation of the scroll masterpiece Along the River During the Qingming Festival 清明上河圖. Located in Edmonton’s Chinatown, the mural was commissioned by the McCauley Revitalization.
Zhang Zeduan painted the original scroll ,also named Qingming Shanghe Tu, 900 years ago. Created during the prosperous Song Dynasty the original scroll shows daily life in the capital city Bianjing (now Kaifeng), one of the most urban areas in the world at the time.

  • Little One’s City

The Mural is a reflection of vibrants streets, showcasing colourful roads and buildings in-front of a cloud filled sky. The vibrant streets and buildings aim to inspire the youth to create more art and build community. This design also reinforces diversity and interconnectedness; through which a community thrives. The colourful buildings within this city landscape speak to those who dwell within and bring the streets to life. As I painted amongst the community, a little boy and his father were driving past as the child exclaimed that he wanted to visit the city landscape. This inspired me to title the mural “Little One’s City” as it is the youth that are our future.

  • Doodle wall

Located inside The Source Bulk Foods Roncy, it was created by a staff member, and funded by the owner of the store.
It features the store’s nut butter schedule, a changing middle section with the “recipe of the month”, and a quote.

  • Lion’s Gate

Tanya Pixie Johnson created this mural on the back of the Community Futures building for the 2020 Nelson International Mural Festival.

“It is my intention that this reference will create stylistic dialogue with other Art Deco design and architectural features in the city. The composition includes two cat-like sentinels and the suggestion of arches or doorways, water and tree or plant-like forms
These ideas are stylized to meet the design parameters proposed by the client.”

  • Genetic Evolution + The Conscious Attunement To Our Divine Vitality

Created from the 2021 Nelson International Mural Festival on the Cedar Street retaining wall.

“Kai Cabödyna’s practice is rooted within returning to natural rhythms, dethroning patriarchal conditioning, cultivating community, exploring collaborative projects and evolving cultural paradigms. Overlapping and communicating through various mediums allows for his eclectic and adaptable process to reflect the way nature orchestrates it’s patterns, rhythms and flows.

  • Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?

Vicky Bilbily’s ‘Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? Bell Box displays the glass-covered interior of a robot’s brain and forehead, presumably asleep. The robot’s large eyes are open, looking to the left of the viewer, but their brain – a light blue semicircle circle – is filled with ten sheep connected to each other with a dark blue lines. The robot’s brain is connected to their body with light blue lines, reminiscent of a circuit board.

  • Peace for Ukraine

Featuring a dark blue background that wraps around the signal box, its front face displays two sunflowers, painted in miraculous yellow with strong black stems and leaves, surrounded by smaller white petaled flowers. Its back face shows one large sunflower, while its sides show three white doves on each side, separated by black hearts.

  • Craven and Gerrard Mural

“Corner of Craven and Gerrard in Little India. (…) Huge thanks to the @leslievilledanceandmusic for having me adorn the side of your building with my flowers. Thanks to my dad for helping me do the hard labour of getting two coats of primer on this wall and multiple coats of all these blocks of colour. A dream project indeed.”

  • Faces

“I finished painting the traffic box outside of @oldscoolgeneralstore at Lumsden and westlake ave in my own hood. Grateful to have been assigned this particular box outside of this amazing Community hub. Representation matters and I’m honoured to contribute to this corner in a colourful and uplifting (hopefully) way.”

  • River of Time

The ‘River of Time’ mural was undertaken by artists Natalie Very B., Bareket Kezwer, Julii McMillan and Julia Prajza, as part of the Neighbourhood Love Collective’s Gateway Mural Project. The mural depicts artistically rendered wildlife, rivers and other nature scenes flowing through the seasons, the observer’s eyes following a series of unbroken rolling hills that pass through the seasons.

  • Natural Connections

An interactive ground mural that features a pattern map inspired by an aerial map of park trails and waterways in the Midtown Yonge area–from Sherwood Park, to Oriole, and the Beltline, as well as three lines connecting native plants to their respective pollinators.

Created as a part of the Midtown Yonge BIA Connects! Through Community Animation and Art program.

  • Keys of Theatre

This design captures Broadway, music, the cast of an orchestra, lavish sets and costumes set on a series of piano keys (…) My aim with this work is to create a warm welcome back to Meadowvale Theatre and encourage the community to support the art by attending shows this summer, and beyond.
