Art that uses flat tones of colour and sharp edges. The image gives the idea or concept of something without having to draw or paint every detail. May be designed using graphic design software, but not necessarily.
This mural responds to the excitement and joy the Beach Community shared about the opening of a new space to play, build new memories together and see a splash of colour in an urban landscape. These were shared during 16 hours of art-based programming and engagement with children and youth.
These loving strawberries offer a gift of wellbeing to the downtown Barrie community. The strawberry, the first fruit of summer, offers hope and the promise of new possibilities.
The design was inspired through a process of reconnecting with ancestral Ashkenazi Jewish plant medicine. Berries featured prominently in the materia medica of traditional Ashkenazi herbal healers. Art is a healing practice; through my art, I am giving new life to the folk healing practices of my forebears.
This is a contemporary mural interpretation of the scroll masterpiece Along the River During the Qingming Festival 清明上河圖. Located in Edmonton’s Chinatown, the mural was commissioned by the McCauley Revitalization.
Zhang Zeduan painted the original scroll ,also named Qingming Shanghe Tu, 900 years ago. Created during the prosperous Song Dynasty the original scroll shows daily life in the capital city Bianjing (now Kaifeng), one of the most urban areas in the world at the time.
This planned public event mural was painted in one day by volunteers from the Kingsway district of Edmonton, including softball players, police, local business reps, and passers by.
The Edmonton Kingsway BIA commisioned the mural as a giant paint by numbers where anyone could help paint. The group came together and completed the wall in just a few active hours.
Damian John created this mural on the Vernon Street retaining wall next to the Salvation Army (down the stairs) for the Nelson International Mural Festival in 2022.

Turbo Bambi created this mural for the 2022 Nelson International Mural Festival on the side of the Nelson Leaf’s Recycling Centre.

STYNA created this mural for the 2022 Nelson International Mural Festival on the roof of Kootenay Lake Hospital’s emergency department. The wall is visible from view street, as well as visible to the patients in the hospital’s palliative care ward.
“Wild Geese” is inspired by Mary Oliver’s poem “Wild Geese”.
“Christina Huynh is an illustrator and muralist based in Western Sydney, Australia that paints under the name STYNA. Her art practice involves creating murals, illustrations and picture books from differing mediums of watercolour, ink and pen to acrylic and aerosol.
“I finished painting the traffic box outside of @oldscoolgeneralstore at Lumsden and westlake ave in my own hood. Grateful to have been assigned this particular box outside of this amazing Community hub. Representation matters and I’m honoured to contribute to this corner in a colourful and uplifting (hopefully) way.”
An interactive ground mural that features a pattern map inspired by an aerial map of park trails and waterways in the Midtown Yonge area–from Sherwood Park, to Oriole, and the Beltline, as well as three lines connecting native plants to their respective pollinators.
Created as a part of the Midtown Yonge BIA Connects! Through Community Animation and Art program.
Artist’s Statement: “I created this project for Sentier Cultural in Gatineau, QC. The mural focused on paying tribute to the significance of women in the textile industry and the working class neighborhood that still exists in that sector of old Hull today.”

Entitled ‘Soul Terrain’, this was my ode to the mountains of British Colombia seen through my filter as an artist, exploring a semi-traditional landscape scene with transparency and vivid color work.”

Futura (2021) a vibrant and innovative mural activation by Andre Kan serves as a significant landmark at The Assembly Park Studios in the City of Vaughan. His geometric shapes build upon one another creating a sense of interconnection, and reminding us how we are all connected in this world. Through the significance of cause and effect, this energetic, multilayered landscape is his abstract interpretation of the city’s unique future – a high-spirited dynamic blueprint of various forms coming together. Unified, bold, and in harmony, this architectural piece depicts a number of structural components and signifies the importance of creating a foundation that can be built beyond itself.
This mural advocates for wildlife and water conservation by reintegrating the water, its inhabitants and local plant specimens back into the city allowing community members to reconnect with nature, water and the land they live on.

This is the garage I got and I immediately saw a piano. I wanted to transform the windows into black keys that glow at night. It is a whimsical play on a jazz pianist.
This 48×8 feet mural represents the vision of 120 elementary school kids about diversity. It was painted with their participation at the Viscount Alexandre School in Ottawa.
As a MASC artist in Ottawa, I created this mural for the 2018 MASC annual Awesome Arts Festival in Sandy Hill.
The Wisdom Mural Project, installed on August 5th 2021, is a call to action to care for our planet. It was a two-year long journey, which sought to understand the depth to which ancestral teachings from Canada and around the world could strengthen our connection with and respect for Mother Nature.
This project was curated by STEPS through their I HeART Main Street program to 26 Business Improvement Areas (BIAs) and 50+ artists who produced public art along commercial main streets, including murals, street furniture, and storefront activations.
This mural was commissioned by the owners of Mazarine Brunch Restaurant in the Centretown of Ottawa.
This mural was awarded to me by the Masson-Angers Sector Community Association and the City of Gatineau. The wall is approx 25 x 30′, Spray Paint on Stucco.
The mural is painted in a trick-of-the-eye abstract style where from up close it appears to be just blocks of colours but from a far the illusion of depth and texture is created.
The mural is designed to create a friendly, positive welcome as you enter the vet clinic. The mural depicts a variety of animals and scenes; from pets interacting with each other, fun in the dog park, owner and pet love, and welcoming visits to the vet. The colour palette is inspired by clinic’s brand colours.
The style and colour palette are inspired by retro vintage art to give a fun old school campy vibe and compliment the campsite buildings.
Playing around a concept powered by creativity, imagination, diversity, and exploration, just some of the many aspects that schools encompass. The mural is painted in an abstract style where a bold, captivating mural is created through an array of hidden imagery with meaning to be found. The abstract style allows for a unique experience as everyone’s eye and mind interpretates colours, forms, and shapes differently.
