Herons
Completed: October 2024“Herons”, approx 24′ x 29′, aerosol, Salaberry-de-Valleyfield.
Paying hommage to Salaberry’s fauna and its coming generations, I wanted to combine aerosol with stained glass to contrast traditional techniques with modern ones. One thing that delights me when I paint these geometric works has been the input of various passer-bys talking about their places of origin and the parallels they share with the techniques I’d use. There is a gathering element to geometry that has surprised and delighted me. As I paint, I also remind myself that, like us, the imperfections and traits of each piece contribute to the character of the final work.
