Art Nouveau Chemainus

MR Circle: Kris Friesen Completed: August 2021

This unique Art-Nouveau mural is designed to bring visitors around the corner to explore more of the Chemainus Public Market. Figures are painted shopping, enjoying espresso with biscotti and as a mermaid swimming to Captain Andy’s Fish and Chips Restaurant. The mural moves viewers to the right (where there were fewer customers) without the art drawing to much attention to itself and leading viewers to stop in their tracks.
The mural was painted with acrylics on drywall and is 25 feet wide by 8 feet tall.

Art Nouveau mural painting on a wall – watch this Chemainus mural art project painted from start to finish! Using mural painting time lapse footage and live action painting videos mixed with pictures of the finished art on the wall, I show how a large mural is painted by hand from the original idea to the final artwork.
