On a black panel, rotating images of a figure is seen holding a cup of coffee. Thick, white lines of steam emerge from the cup. There are three images of the figure that rotate, one wearing a burgendy jacket, and another wears grey, and the other green. They are rotated in a way that forms a target symbol in the centre.

Catch me Sippin’

Completed: 2019

Artist’s statement: “By disorienting the viewer to conjure feelings of confusion, I have layered several identical works that demonstrates the concept of movement. By generating work using illustrative and manipulative methods, I reveal an inherent awkwardness; a humour that echoes our own vulnerabilities. I consider said movement as a metaphor for the ever-seeking human who experiences a continuous loss of creative energy. Isolating this creates new sequences that reveal an inseparable relationship between motion and the never ending pursuit of perfecting one’s craft. And coffee is great. That’s what this dude be sippin’. Sometimes, if I drink a lot of it, I get a little shaky shaky in my ol’ funny bones and I feel like said illustration. Michael calls me a ‘caffeine fiend’.”
