The mural is the first of nine underpass murals to be completed along the Carlaw-Dundas rail corridor from Eastern to Coxwell avenues, and is part of a unified street art vision called the East End Bridges to Art underpass series.

“Commemorate!” is about acknowledging the passion and kindness people bring to our communities with an uplifting, whimsical illustration.

Evgeny Cherkassov took inspiration from the ancient exotic wall murals of India. He used warm and vibrant colours which produced the cartoonish and pleasing look of the finished boxes.

The streets are filled with artistic graffiti, small boutiques and textile shops. The design is a thank you to the neighbourhood.

If there’s something that Toronto needs, I would say it needs more joy, magic, and calmness. These local forest animals, humanized and holding hands, show love and understanding amidst diversity.

This mural reflects the values, vibrancy, diversity, and historic character of the area and has become its new signature image.

Community Centre 55 worked with youth as part of a restorative justice program to paint this bright and colourful bench.

A mural that celebrated local community philanthropist Peggy Delany (south of Queen Street between Lee and Leuty Avenues). The mural was created by local youth in partnership with Community Centre 55 and was unveiled in the naming of the Peggy Delaney Laneway.

The design serves as a beacon to connect the mixed-use strip of Queen Street East to the nearby beaches. The playful design is speaks to the character of the Beaches neighbourhood and celebrates the natural assets of the beach and its year-round fun.

The artist aims to transform a traffic signal box, something that is often overlooked in everyday life, into an aesthetic object that could be appreciated by anyone.

The detailed design of this piece incorporates six types of birds and a coloured background that transitions from night to day.

This mural design showcases the relationship between different organisms, and species such as animals and plants, as they coexist in one environment.

Two colourful planter boxes pay tribute to Community Centre 55 and the City of Toronto, and depict various scenes, including a police car, fire truck, multi-coloured pattern, school supplies, and a silly ant hill.

The KIAI Mural Project, in partnership with SKETCH and DeSantos Martial Arts Studio, engaged primarily young women, residents, community organizations. and local businesses to complete this lively mural.
