  • Transformation “The WOW mural”

This mural, 9 stories tall celebrates Ottawa’s diversity, underlines the importance of inclusion and enhances awareness of the contributions of newcomers to Ottawa.
Dedicated to immigrants and refugees. This mural depicts the eyes of Canada’s diversity, generosity and compassion. Created with the participation of almost 90 people from the community as the WOW, Welcome Ottawa Week.

  • The Wisdom Mural

The Wisdom Mural Project, installed on August 5th 2021, is a call to action to care for our planet. It was a two-year long journey, which sought to understand the depth to which ancestral teachings from Canada and around the world could strengthen our connection with and respect for Mother Nature.

  • Garth Worthington School Mural

Playing around a concept powered by creativity, imagination, diversity, and exploration, just some of the many aspects that schools encompass. The mural is painted in an abstract style where a bold, captivating mural is created through an array of hidden imagery with meaning to be found. The abstract style allows for a unique experience as everyone’s eye and mind interpretates colours, forms, and shapes differently.

  • Soul of Limoilou

This mural was commissioned by Quebec Nova Murale, a new non-profit organization aimed at installing murals in the neighborhood of Limoilou in Quebec City. I was the first artist to be asked to do a mural in the neighborhood and the first mural artist from Ontario to get government funding in Quebec.

  • Canoe Garden with Wildlife

I created this mural as a means of bringing attention to the local gardening efforts to bring green spaces into the city. This work highlights the possibility that these efforts will bring wildlife back into urban areas and for us to appreciate the space that we share with nature. This idyllic scene shows a recycled canoe transformed into a garden with plants and animals from Ontario around it.

  • Flowers

I wanted to create something bright and colourful that would be fun and evocative of nature. Whether it is placed next to a park or alleyway, my hope is that it will impart within the viewer the feeling of being immersed in a flowery forest. Each side is packed with foliage, making it view-able from every direction. I used a limited pallet with a focus on calming colours to help counter the stress of the city. I am looking to present a slice of idealized natural imagery as a backdrop to someone’s daily life, whether it be for an impromptu Instagram photo shoot or a point of interest passed by on a dog walk, I hope it helps brighten someone’s day.

  • Domov Muj/My Home

This playful and vibrant piece celebrates the art and culture of Eastern Europeans living in Toronto and Bloorcourt Village, which I’m glad to call my home. I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for my father who immigrated from Czech Republic to Canada in 1969, in order to live a better life and for which I’m eternally grateful.

  • Playing with Fire and Ice

Shackleton created a 50-foot-long mural for her public exhibition at the Art Gallery of Northumberland. The painting depicts the lasting effects of climate change in Canada. Images of melting glaciers float amongst local architectural elements, which are met by the scorched limbs of a burning forest. Complete with the use of her signature drip painting technique, Shackleton transforms the Gallery’s walls into a fully immersive encounter.

  • All You Need is LOVE

As part of the The Bentway’s 2021 Community Incubation Program, I facilitated virtual workshops where participants learned basic techniques to prepare for the collaborative window mural. Based on the theme of community love, I created a fun and playful mural design with big, bold letterforms and intersecting shapes. Participants came out to paint and contribute to this massive window mural.

  • Uplifting Each Other

I was immediately drawn to the theme of ‘uplifting each other’, it made me ask myself what does supporting women look like? What are the ways we can support women in our communities? What does it mean to uplift one another and ourselves? In my illustration, I try to explore various answers to these questions with colourful bodies of various sizes that sometimes energetically, sometimes compassionately, move and help others towards a better present/future.

  • Lilies of the Water

Inspired by the resilience of the natural world, this mural highlights nature’s survival through harsh and changing conditions of our urban environments.

Like nature, a human life’s journey isn’t always flowing easily towards our hopes and dreams, it often ebbs towards feelings of being lost and confused. This is part of the beauty of life and our perseverance; like a tough water lily thriving in its unique environment. After all, blossoming water lilies have emerged from the mud, evolving over many years to survive.

  • Jungle Boogie

Inspired by the vibrant, lush plants of tropical climates, this mural brought some much needed warmth to the public during the winter season.

Painted as part of The Junction BIA’s Window Wonderland, for Antidote Wellness Lab, animated by Mackenzie Bedford. The video animation brought the mural to life with the plants moving about, a magical bird flying into the scene, soaking up the view, and blossoming into a bird of a different colour and flying away again.
