Built as an inn at the corner of Kingston Road and what is now Midland Avenue, Half Way House was a rural stage coach stop half way between the village of Dunbarton and the St. Lawrence Market in Toronto. The building served many purposes before being moved to Black Creek Pioneer Village in 1965.

With the permission of John Hood and support from the local community and the City of Toronto (through an Economic Development grant), the Halfway House mural was restored in July 2018 by artists from Blinc Studios.
