RH150 Storage Bunker Mural – Pine Farm Park (25 Ashfield Drive)

The City of Richmond Hill commissioned Joaquin Varela to paint Storage Bunker at Pine Farm Park in celebration of “RH150”, the City’s 150th Anniversary. For each project, artists were asked to capture Richmond Hill’s past, present and future to provide a sense of social connectivity and community pride.

Joaquín Varela is a Latinx visual artist, educator, placemaker and nature interpreter. Joaquín leads and facilitates workshops and classes in communities all over Toronto and is the co-founder of Roots To Bloom, a collective that aims to cultivate crucial relationships to the land and collective stewardship through placed-based community art-making.
