As you may have heard, we are painting the inside and North-facing entrance to the infamous DVP “Rainbow tunnel” this Spring! This is an exciting opportunity and we would like to have anyone who is as enthusiastic and a positive team worker to be part of the painting. We will be having a meeting for all volunteers on Saturday, April 27th at 1pm at Flemingdon Park Library (29 St Dennis Dr), 2nd floor Library Auditorium Room. The meeting will go over the mural project and some expectations/ overview and some forms we will need filled out by volunteers.
We plan on painting weekends of May & June, Saturdays and Sundays about 10am-4pm.
For more info on the project, you can check out our Rainbow Tunnel Restoration
Just to clarify, we re-painted the Rainbow entrance this past fall, and will paint the inner-tunnel and other entrance this Spring – lots of people have been worried that we are painting over the Rainbow, but we certainly are not! The design has already been created in conjunction with community input during our Step x Step: Flemingdon Intro to Mural Art workshops that have been held every Saturday from February to March, 2013.
Volunteers will be required to work under the supervision and design of our lead artists, taking directions well and contributing to the positive work atmosphere.
We look forward to meeting you on the 27th and having you be a positive part of our mural-painting team! For more info or to let us know you are interested e-mail Tara Dorey, Program Coordinator at tara@muralroutes.com or call the office at 416-698-7995
This project is funded by City of Toronto: Parks Forestry & Recreation and in partnership with Flemingdon Neighbourhood Services.
