2026 Health and Safety Training for Mural Artists

In partnership with StreetARToronto, Mural Routes is offering subsidized practical training in Health and Safety specifically for mural artists. We are offering three types of courses: Working at Heights, Scissor Lift, and Boom Lift training.

COURSE DESCRIPTIONS
- Working at Heights (WAH): Provides the required knowledge for working at heights safely with a focus on ladder safety. Participants obtain hands-on experience connecting and inspecting different types of fall protection equipment. This certification is required in Ontario for any worker whose feet are higher than six feet above the ground.
- Scissor Lift: Focuses on self-propelled elevated work platforms (scissor lifts). The course covers OHSA legislation, pre-operational inspections, battery care, and job site hazards.
- Articulating Boom Lift: Focuses on self-propelled elevated work platforms, specifically articulating boom lifts. Similar to the scissor lift training, this course reviews safe operation, inspections, and fall protection.
TRAINING DETAILS
For: Artists seeking training for mural-making purposes.
Provider: STS Group (a Ministry of Labour approved provider).
Certification: Upon successful completion, participants receive a Ministry of Labour-approved certification valid for three years.

IMPORTANT PREREQUISITES
Working at Heights Certification: A valid WAH certificate is a mandatory prerequisite for both Scissor Lift and Boom Lift workshops.
Scissor Lift Training: It is recommended that participants have up-to-date Scissor Lift training before attending Boom Lift training.
