The Glorified

Completed: July 2022

The Glorified is a beautiful, largely pink mural painted on the side of a signal box for the Outside the Box project funded by StreetARToronto. Two figures in inverse outfits adorn the front and back panels of the signal box, with yellow suns behind them. A candle and a statue sit on individual pedestals on the box’s left and right sides, respectively. Using fantastic curved edges, sharp points, bold borders and creative use of repeating colours, artist Sarah Alinia Ziazi brightens this corner of McCowan and Lawrence with her unique and arresting style.

Artist’s Statement:  “‘The Glorified’ is a homage to the feminine presence within the City of Tkaranto. The lit candle and the flowers surrounding the two main women are visualized to show an extension of their beauty. These objects symbolize the growth and prosperity within our city’s belief in promoting safe spaces for marginalized people.”
