Hommage à Janine Sutto

L’année 2016 marquait la célébration de nombreux anniversaires dans le monde du théâtre québécois. MU a donc souhaité saisir l’occasion afin de réaliser deux murales rendant respectivement hommage au Théâtre de Quat’Sous, qui célèbrait le 60e anniversaire de sa création, ainsi qu’à Janine Sutto, qui a fêté ses 95 ans plus tôt au cours de l’année.

C’est donc Kevin Ledo, un artiste muraliste bien reconnu pour la qualité et le réalisme de ses portraits, qui a eu le mandat d’illustrer Mme Sutto en format géant sur le mur du logement de l’Office municipal d’habitation de Montréal.

L’artiste a été assisté par Marianne Blondeau tout au long de la réalisation du projet.

L’oeuvre a été réalisée dans le cadre de la collection Hommage aux bâtisseurs culturels montréalais, qui vise à reconnaître l’inestimable contribution des créateurs de la métropole de différentes disciplines artistiques, qu’ils soient montréalais d’origine ou d’adoption, au rayonnement local, national et international.

2016 marked the celebration of many anniversaries in Quebec’s theatre world. MU wished to take the opportunity to produce two murals which pay tribute to both Théâtre du Quat’Sous, which is celebrating its 60th anniversary, and to Janine Sutto, who celebrated her 95th birthday earlier in the year.

Kevin Ledo, a mural artist who is well-known for the quality and realism of his portraits, was given the task of illustrating Ms. Sutto on a grand scale on one of the Office municipal d’habitation de Montréal’s units.

The artist was assisted by Marianne Blondeau during the execution of the project.

The work was produced as a part of our Montreal’s Great Artists collection, which aims to recognize the tremendous contribution that Montreal’s creators have made to a variety of artistic disciplines. The collection includes artists who were born in Montreal, as well as adoptive Montrealers, whose work has been influential locally, nationally, and internationally.
