A Woman’s Parliament

Completed: 2016

This mural depicts a historic scene which would occur in Canada between 1890 and 1914, where women would hold mock parliament sessions, reversing gender roles and dynamics. Nellie McClung is seen in the centre, mocking Premier Roblin, holding a cigar and wearing suspenders. The papers that fly around on the right include important dates and locations pertaining to the women’s suffrage movement.
