Get involved in Celebrate Dundalk!

From Friday September 27 to Sunday September 29 we invite you to join us for an exciting celebration in Downtown Dundalk, ON.

There are many ways you can be involved in this exciting community event as an artist, business owner or resident.

Mural Routes is partnering with the Township of Southgate ON to produce 10 small-scale mural artworks in Dundalk ON during the last weekend of September (Sept 27-29, 2024). We welcome artists from all over Ontario to apply and will have stipends available for travel and local accommodations but preference will be given to local artists and artists from the neighbouring Grey County area.

For all the information about applying please click here.

Please help us spread the word to your networks about this opportunity – we can’t wait to meet new artists and friends!

If you are a property owner or member of the downtown Dundalk business community, you can volunteer one of your exterior walls to be a mural location! We’re looking for approximately 10 businesses along Main and Proton streets who will be paired with an artist and will receive a beautiful mural that celebrates our community at no cost to you.

Did you know murals are proven to increase retail foot traffic and raise property values? If your building exterior isn’t appropriate for a mural installation and you would still like to participate, we invite you to consider extending your business hours or offering special products, discounts or specials that showcase your business and give Festival goers the sustenance they need to enjoy all Dundalk has to offer over the Festival weekend. We’ll help promote your business on our hub map and on social media.

If you are interested in becoming involved as a business please contact Rasheen here.

If your business is local but not located directly on Main or Proton Streets we still want to feature you. We will have a limited number of 10’x10’ spots available to feature local artisans and celebrate the vibrant community of Southgate Township. These spots will be available at no cost to you but vendors are responsible for providing their own tents, tables, booths etc.
A focus will be on prioritizing local crafts people and artisan vendors. If you are interested in becoming involved as an artisan vendor please contact Rasheen here.

Events like our Festival are not possible without amazing volunteers like you. Students can earn valuable experience and hours towards their volunteer hour requirements and everyone can share in the spirit of collaboration as we come together to celebrate Dundalk!

There are three main volunteer roles:

Production Volunteers work behind-the-scenes and are there to make our artists’ lives easier. They help to set everything up and take it all down again when the festival ends. They watch over mural sites, performance and workshop locations, artist supply room(s), and other ‘backstage’ areas.

Front of House Volunteers are the “face” of the festival. They welcome audience members, answer questions, give directions and more. Some volunteers are at the information table, but most travel between mural and performance sites. At the end of the festival days Front of House volunteers help Production Volunteers to put everything away.

Floater Volunteers fill in for people who are away and help out wherever they are needed most during the festival. They might do any—or all—of the above.

If you are interested in volunteering please click here.

Don’t have a wall or business? Not an artist (pfft we think everyone is really an artist at heart but we’ll agree to disagree) or can’t commit to being a volunteer? We still want you!

Come out to our festival! Watch artists at work, support local businesses, eat snacks, listen to cool tunes and participate in arts and crafts activities for the whole family. There is fun and entertainment for everyone!
