Jessica Semenoff is a Calgary-based muralist, painter, and printmaker who gathers imagery and inspiration from flora and fauna. Her public projects frequently consist of plants native to the area of the mural, both regionally and provincially. A portion of her work incorporates themes of sustainability, critiquing our flawed landfill and recycling programs and raising concerns about the ongoing climate crisis.

Jessica is a partially self-taught artist, and received a Bachelor of Commerce Degree with a major in Marketing and a minor in Visual Arts from the University of Calgary. She has created visual marketing campaigns for various projects and clients, which has shaped her artistic style aesthetically. She grew up in a small mountain town in the West Kootenays, which greatly influenced her adoration for nature and is a strong inspiration in her work.

Jessica has been professionally painting murals since 2020, with projects ranging from 100 to over 1000 sq ft, taking a few days to a few weeks to complete. The majority of her public artworks are located in Calgary, with some murals in surrounding communities including Red Deer, Lethbridge, and Sylvan Lake. Jessica has also painted in a handful of towns in British Columbia including Fernie, Kimberley, and Trail. You can find her murals internationally in Memphis Tennessee, painted for their festival Paint Memphis, and Puerto Escondido, Mexico, painted while at OLA Artist Residency.

She has exhibited in national galleries such as cSPACE King Edward in Calgary, Gallery 1313 in Toronto, Harcourt House in Edmonton, and the Ottawa School of Art where she won the Best in Show – Screenprint award at the Eighth International Miniature Print Biennale. She has exhibited at international galleries including Galerie L’étangd’Art in Bages France, Fundació Tharrats d’Art Gràfic in Barcelona Spain, Wingfield Barns in Suffolk UK, and Taller Galeria Fort in Cadaqués Spain.

Jessica has collaborated with various businesses, community associations, and city organizations to accomplish their public art goals and brighten spaces. Some commercial clients include YETI, Sporkchek, Gong Cha, and the University of Calgary.
