Mural Routes presents… Public Art Learning Series (PALS) – Summer Sessions
A learning series to better equip emerging and mid-career artists working in murals and public art in the GTA. Deepen your understanding of this unique field and gain technical skills for working on mural and public art projects!
– Session 1: WORKING WITH PANELS FOR MURALS –
Learn to cut, sand, prime and paint wood (MDO / sign board) panels and their potential for mural making. Led by Rob Matejka, Mural Routes lead artist who has worked with MDO panels and panel installation for murals for 10+ years.
July 13-14, 9am – 4pm

– Session 2: GRAFFITI AND CANADIAN CONTEMPORARY ART –
Lecture-style workshop which describes Elicser’s understanding of graffiti as a means to inspire more beautiful and safe public spaces, and promoting a history of street art not often talked about in art history books.
July 17th, 2 30- 4 30pm

– Session 3: MOSAICS –
Learn hands-on the process and materials of mosaic making, beginning with prepping your surface, to design, and final completion, from professional mosaic artist and educator Cristina Delago.

– Session 4: FALL ARREST / WORKING AT HEIGHTS TRAINING –
Government approved course provides an understanding of their responsibilities when working in areas where fall hazards exist, the use of and inspection of the required equipment and the critical controls necessary to reduce the risk of a fall.
