CO-CREATE THE MURAL MAP OF CANADA WITH US!

Mural Routes and Artengine Co-present the Mural Map of Canada Edit-a-thon Ottawa edition and invite artists, arts organizations and street art lovers to contribute and populate the pan-Canadian mural map.

This event is open to anyone and will include basic editing training for new contributors. You don’t have to be the creator of a mural, but you are required to know basic details to submit a listing to the map.

If you have a mural(s) you would like to submit, please come equipped with:

  • access to digital photos of the mural (online, on your device or on a thumb drive)
  • the mural artist(s) name(s)
  • address/location of the mural

This causal networking event is a great opportunity for community building around public art and for a social meetup that inspires connections and celebrates amazing talent and art in the National Capital Region.

Event Date: Thursday, May 18, 2023 5:00 – 7:30pm
Location: Artengine Studio, 2 Daly Avenue (Floor 0, Arts Court)*
*You can access the studio from:

  • Arts Court main entrance at 2 Daly Avenue (take an elevator to Floor 0)
  • SAW Gallery entrance at 67 Nicholas (walk straight through the entrance to find the Studio on the same floor)

Time:
5:00 – 5:30pm: Meet & greet
5:30 – 5:45pm: Introduction to Mural Routes, the Mural Map of Canada, an Edit-a-Thon, and HOW TOs
5:45 – 7:30pm: Adding murals to map, networking & refreshments/finger food

WHAT IS AN EDIT-A-THON?

An edit-a-thon is a crowdsourcing event where artists, arts workers and community members at large are trained and invited to submit the mural listings on the Mural Map of Canada. These edit-a-thons include instructions for Mural Map users, are free and open to the public and are held in various communities across Canada in 2023-24.

Our goal is to build a catalogue of murals on the Mural Map of Canada, while familiarizing participants with its usage.
